Patient rights and responsibilities

As a patient or attendant, you are responsible:

Rights of the Patient: Right to

  • Considerate and respectful care.
  • Information on diagnosis, treatment and medicines
  • Obtain all the relevant information about the professionals involved in the patient care
  • Expect that all the communication and records pertaining to his/her case to treated as confidential.
  • Expect prompt treatment in an emergency
  • Refuse to participate in human experimentation, research , project affecting his/ her care or treatment
  • Get copies of medical records.
  • Know what hospital rules and regulations apply to him/her as a patient and the facilities obtainable to the patient.
  • Get details of the bill
  • Seek second opinion about his/her disease, treatment etc.,

Responsibilities of the Patient:

  • Please keep appointments, be on time for appointments, and call your doctor/hospital if you cannot adhere to the appointment timing.
  • Provide complete and accurate information, including your full name, address, telephone number, date of birth, Id Proof (Aadhar Card is a must). Particulars of next-of-kin and insurance company/TPA/employer, past illness, blood group and medication details wherever required should be provided.
  • Actively participate in your treatment plan and keep your doctors and nurses informed of the effectiveness of your treatment.
  • Please look after your valuables. Leave them at your home and bring only the necessary items.
  • We request you to treat all hospital staff, other patients and visitors with courtesy and respect; abide by the hospital rules and safety regulations; be considerate of noise levels, privacy and number of visitors, and comply with the ‘No Smoking’ policy.
  • Please read all instructions, clarify doubts before signing the consent forms.
  • Do follow the doctors instruction diligently.
